ANZAC DAY 2026

In the pre-dawn mist a large crowd gathered at Soldiers Park to commemorate the sacrifice and courage of all those who served in the defence of our country. In the glow of the breaking dawn our Secretary and President delivered sombre but important messages reminding us of meaning of Anzac Day. One highlight of the morning presentations was the recognition of our hundred-year-old WW2 veteran Mr Ted McCormick.

After the dawn service was completed club members and families returned to the Club house for a “Gunfire” breakfast of bacon, sausages, eggs and baked beans and a tot of rum if needed.

With Colonel Bogey blasting out of the sound car, the march from Coles carpark to Soldiers Park announced the start of the 11AM Service. Once again there was a large crowd assembled for the Commemorative Service. It was very pleasing to see so many people, young and old, taking time out of their day to show their respect to the veterans, serving members and fallen of our proud defence forces. The solemn words of the RSL President’s address, poems, prayers, and singing of the Australian National Anthem were well received by those attending. One stand-out this year was the large number of wreaths laid at both the Dawn Service and the 1100 Service.

On completion of the 1100 Service in Anzac Park, members, families, friends and visitors were invited back to the RSL Clubhouse for lunch, drinks, and a game of two-up if you were inclined.

The days activities wrapped up around 1730 making it a very long but rewarding day for our members and supporters – many of whom had been up well before 4AM.

If you intend to watch the video below maybe make a cup of tea first - it's quiet long at eleven minutes.
